Multi-Tenant Architecture

Multi-tenant Architecture is used to host multiple user accounts, applications, machines or environments on shared infrastructure.  How, and at what level of the solution stack users are segregated, is dictated by the service delivery model (Iaas, PaaS, SaaS) being used and the service providers particular implementation.

For the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) model; physical resources (compute, memory, storage, networking) are abstracted from the underlying hardware and are logically allocated, grouped and isolated and then made available for user (tenant) use.

This offers the tenant many advantages, from increased flexibility and elasticity, to improved hardware and reduced costs by utilizing an IaaS provider’s services.
