Ericsson's research indicated that the global cloud market has grown to where its annual revenues now total $130 billion annually, and much of that comes from the growth of infrastructure as a service (IaaS). There's plenty of room in telecom for increased IaaS adoption.
Disaster recovery is always a focus
Specifically, these businesses need to think critically about their need for disaster recovery planning. What happens if a massive thunderstorm hits, and daily operations are disrupted? How will telecom companies recover their data and stay operational?
According to Electrical Construction and Maintenance, this is a vital question. Lighting consultant Joseph Knisley told the news source that disasters can devastate telecom businesses, and therefore, they need to be prepared.
"You should develop a disaster recovery plan in case such a catastrophe occurs," Knisley advised. "Even though this plan may be well thought out, bringing back a downed network will not be a simple task."
