10 Things You Didn’t Know About Virtacore

1. Virtacore is located at the center of the Internet within the United States.
Ashburn, Virginia is one of the top 5 busiest Internet hubs in the world. Virtacore is headquartered in Northern Virginia for a reason. This allows our customers to take advantage of all the network connectivity available to them within our data center facilities. With so many carriers in one place, we can more easily connect to our customer’s global locations.

2. Virtacore was founded in 2003.
Before becoming a leader in Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Virtacore’s roots were in co-location and managed services. It’s funny that we originally assisted companies that needed help hosting gaming servers. This quickly expanded to hosting public cloud services and eventually large scale private cloud deployments. Great beginnings and a good story.

3. Virtacore is an early VMware Partner.
Virtacore has worked strategically over the years with VMware to help build public and private cloud services using VMware technology. Virtacore was the first partner to release the provisioning panel for vCloud Director in 2010. Virtacore has also worked recently with VMware to host evaluation services for their vCloud Director Hybrid setup. We also participate on VMware’s Customer Advisory Board and Service Provider Advisory Council.

4. Virtacore is backed by Insight Venture Partners.
Virtacore’s investment partner is Insight Venture Partners in New York City. Insight Venture Partners is a leading global private equity and venture capital firm founded in 1995. They have raised more than $7.6 billion and invested in more than 190 growth-stage software, eCommerce, internet, and data-services companies. Recently Twitter, one of their investment portfolios, went public in 2013. They have also invested in Tumblr, Yelp, Parallels, and Flipboard. Not a bad company at all.

5. Virtacore Partners with Nimble.
Virtacore partners with Nimble Storage to supply our customers and channel partners data storage services. We have rocketed to support over a petabyte of their storage within our platform. Nimble is best for IO-intensive workloads, such as larger-scale VDI or transaction processing supported by Oracle or SQL Servers. In October 2013 Nimble filed for its initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange and went public on the NYSE on December 13, 2013, under the ticker symbol NMBL. One of our highlights of VMworld 2013 was co-hosting a booth with Nimble.

6. Virtacore is in Seven States.
Virtacore is not just isolated to Northern Virginia. We have presence in seven states including New York, Illinois, Washington, California, Massachusetts, Utah, and of course Virginia.

7. Virtacore has data center facilities in Chicago, San Jose, Los Angeles, and Ashburn.
Virtacore has increased the infrastructure footprint in the last few years expanding our cloud services to data centers across the US. Recently Chicago has been upgraded as a key backup facility for our customers.

8. Virtacore’s Cloud Platform is powered by Cisco UCS.
Virtacore is using the Nexus 7000 Cisco UCS platform to host critical cloud services for our customers. With over 100,000 GIG’s RAM available we started offering more packages and options for our IaaS solutions including Virtacloud Power and Virtacloud Reserve.

9. Virtacore performed the largest Google Apps migrations in the Caribbean.
Virtacore has many international customers. As a certified Google reseller, we have also performed the largest migrations in the Caribbean region for enterprise customers and governments.

10. Virtacore knows Compliance.
Virtacore goes through great lengths to get their certifications. We have third party independent audits both on our datacenter and our processes. Our compliance office ensures we are audited monthly and annually to support PCI DSS, SOC1, SOC2 as well HIPAA.
